“I’ve seen Bilbo — in three dimensions.” says Gandalf the Grey, played by Sir Ian McKellen.
He narrates an incident when he gets to visit Martin Freeman as he tests his “Bilbo Baggins” get-up before a green screen.
McKellen speaks of the two cameras that are being used to shoot The Hobbit.
“Three Bilbos simultaneously,” he says, “two performances on screen and the actor beyond: which was the real one? Martin Freeman was transmuting into a character whose reality will soon be as authentic as his own.”
